SMPS Seattle Attending AMPLIFY A/E/C - by the Marketing Committee

AMPLIFY A/E/C is this week, and SMPS Seattle is well represented! We asked some of our members who are attending what they’re bringing that they ‘can’t live without,’ and something they’re looking forward to. See below for AMPLIFY A/E/C answers, and maybe even inspiration for future conferences!

Item You Can’t Live Without:

Liz Wasson-Coleman, CPSM - I'm bringing my Remarkable, which is a writable e-tablet that I got for Mother's Day and now I use it for everything! Taking notes, doodling, list-making. It looks like real paper and captures my handwriting perfectly, so it's fantastic for note-taking at a conference like this!

Melanie Cochrun, CPSM - All that walking ... session to session, back and forth from my room, taking breaks outside, up and down escalators ... I always pack my hush puppies, aka perfectly aged Ugg slippers!

Ranjana Sterling - Moist towelettes - have you been to Atlanta in July?! On a serious note, I am looking forward to unplugging and bringing my fully-engaged self. Starting a new role in an organization that experienced explosive growth and many changes in a short amount of time has not been easy, and my focus has been on work work work. Self-care is essential, including taking the time to feed your brain and refuel your motivational reserves. I am going to soak it all in - except for the humidity, of course.

Melissa Richey English - The one thing I can’t live without for the conference are my new kicks! Nike Dunk Low SE Patchwork so I can check out ATL in style and comfort; this will be my first time visiting the city and I’m hoping for some time to explore!

Something You’re Looking Forward To:

Liz Wasson-Coleman, CPSM - One thing I'm looking forward to at the conference is meeting some of the incredible SMPS chapter leaders I've gotten to know across the country over the last two years of my board service, but been unable to meet in person. Specifically, my President's Class - The Comeback Kids - are planning a special get together.

Melanie Cochrun, CPSM - I can't wait to see what Danielle Gray has up her sleeve for the 'Surprise Ending for Day 1' on the Main Stage. And on the serious side, I encourage everyone not to miss Tuesday's Main Stage event at 8:30am featuring Seattle's own Kabri Lehrman Schmid. I met Kabri two years ago when she was a speaker on a virtual panel I moderated about the need for psychological safety on the jobsite. I was blown away then, and continue to marvel at her work to bring attention to the risk factors and mental health crisis in construction - and the barriers she breaks in her own career!!

Ranjana Sterling - I can't wait to catch up with other Seattle chapter members over dinner and cocktails (#squadgoals). I look forward to feeding my brain by attending the Motivating & Influencing High Performance Through Effective Communication session and fueling my motivation by participating in the Leading with Laughter workshop. I am also ready to put on my party-planner hat for an in-person brainstorming session with fellow members of the SMPS 50th Anniversary Amplify Conference Celebration Task Force led by the fabulous Jen Newman.

Melissa Richey English - I’m most looking forward to connecting with other marketers from across the country; this is also my first national SMPS conference so I’m looking forward to feeling that buzz and energy of those who share my passion for AEC marketing.

We hope everyone has fun at the conference! Stay tuned for a recap of the event in the coming weeks!
