We are at the very height of the ‘Ber Months — that time of year when all the months end in -ber. The days grow shorter, temperatures drop, and we break out our puffy jackets, shivering and saying, “Brr.” It is a time of celebration, feasting, and gift giving. So it is appropriate that we launch our annual sponsor drive this time of year as well.
Fostering a culture of advocacy
Every year, our chapter selects a theme to focus our efforts. This year, our theme is advocacy, symbolized through the salmon, a figure of wisdom, renewal, and care across cultures. Salmon embody advocacy by dedicating their lives to creating safe upstream spaces for the next generation, while sustaining entire ecosystems as a cornerstone species. The fact that salmon are everywhere, from the Pike Place Market to wayfinding signs at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, makes them practically a symbol of the Puget Sound Region!
This spirit of advocacy has been alive and well at our chapter, helping us to thrive for over four decades. Last year, thanks to the advocacy of our 100+ volunteers and 29 sponsors, we achieved:
- 21 virtual and in-person events (avg. 50 attendees)
- 11 members-only Roundtables
- $14,500+ in scholarships awarded
- 36 mentor/mentee pairings through MULTIPLY
- 9 new CPSMs, bringing our total to 53
We encourage you to serve as advocates of SMPS Seattle. Sponsorship enables us to deliver incredible events and programs each year to grow our members’ skills, expand networks, and strengthen their firms. Your sponsorship gives members the education and resources they need to help their firms thrive. Our 2026 goal is to raise $25,000, directly funding chapter programming throughout the year.
