SMPS Seattle Trivia Night XIV Recap — by Chris Stuvek, Marketing Manager, Säzän Environmental Services

Do you know the nickname given to the last player selected in the NFL draft?

Can you identify an Everlasting Gobstopper?

If so, you could have won the SMPS Seattle Trivia Night XIV competition on April 15. These two questions proved to be the difference between the top two teams.

Continuing a tradition started in 2014, SMPS Seattle hosted a general trivia night for teams of four. It was the third time as a virtual event and the first to include teams from other chapters. The event brought together 68 players on 17 teams from 10 Pacific Region SMPS chapters.

In the end, Queens of the Empire, a team representing the SMPS Inland Empire chapter, took top honors. Congratulations to Leilani Doherty, Maria Marzoeki, Shannon Stewart, and Beth George for securing bragging rights until Trivia Night XV. SMPS Seattle team, Whiskey Business, finished two points behind for second place.

Although trivia provided a fun excuse for some friendly competition, the real winners were three nonprofit charities. In keeping with this year’s SMPS Seattle mission of giving back, all money raised was distributed to charities chosen by the participating teams based on random wheel spins. Between registration fees and an additional donation by SMPS Seattle, $1,500 was split between:

  • AWAIC, as chosen by SMPS Alaska
  • Rose Haven, as chosen by SMPS Oregon
  • Monarch School, as chosen by SMPS San Diego

As we slowly move towards in-person SMPS Seattle trivia events, we may have started a new tradition with online events between chapters. Stay tuned for news on future trivia and other events at www.smpsseattle.org.
