InDesign on Demand: Find/Replace Feature

Quick tip this month on the Find/Replace feature.

Some folks use (area code) phone-number. I like area.phone.number. InDesign 6 has a search and replace BUILT IN to swap out () phone numbers with dot.

Under Edit... Find/Replace... Use the pull down bar under Query, and you'll see it: Phone Number Conversion. You don't have to type the code - it is already entered!

There are other built-in find/replace options, too. Like dash dash to em dash. And single dash to en dash. It will even find all of the double spaces after a sentence and replace them with a single space. Priceless!
