"Trivia Newton John" Stole the Show at SMPS Seattle Trivia Night
Six teams battled it out for trivia glory at SMPS Seattle's Trivia Night! The event, held at Pyramid Alehouse on Nov. 12, was not only an opportunity for members to test their trivia knowledge, but it was also a fundraiser for SMSP Seattle's scholarship program.
SMPS Seattle member Chris Stuvek, with Sazan Group, ran the night as the trivia grandmaster. Round 1 was a mix of general trivia questions. Round 2 was a visual question round. Round 3 was set up for teams to 'steal' the lead with double points given for right answers.
After trailing the entire game, the team "Trivia Newton John" stole the lead from "The Swiss Family Robinson" in the final round by listing five correct answers about the British monarchy: "Name the next five heirs in line for the British monarchy Elizabeth II." The first, second, and third place teams were:
1st Place: Trivia Newton John
- Paige Nilson, BCRA
- Dara t'Sas, BCRA
- Erin Knuth, BCRA
2nd Place: The Swiss Family Robinson
- Tara Miller, The Robinson Company
- Louie Brothers, Guest
- Toby Hayse, The Robinson Company
- Amy Hayse, The Robinson Company
3rd Place: Marshawn's Shoes
- Tamas Bancsik, Coffman Engineers
- Amy Matsumoto, KPFF
- Ryan Brady, Seattle Public Utilities
- Erin Hatch, Weber Thompson
The night was also a great fundraising succes, as well, raising more than $750 towards the chapter's scholarship program. SMPS Seattle's scholarship program supports three scholarships each year that members can apply for: a scholarship to attend the SMPS Pacific Regional Conference, a scholarship to attend the SMPS Build Business conference, and a $500 continuing education scholarship. It also supports a $1,000 undergraduate scholarship. SMPS Seattle is currently accepting applications for the Pacific Regional Conference scholarship, due Nov. 20.
Thanks to Chris for some great trivia questions and for everyone who braved the nasty traffic and weather to participate!
